The International Consortium on Health Losses in Europe (HALE) questionnaire is a valid and reliable tool for measurement of patient-reported outcome. This study aimed to test the validity and reliability of the Persian version of the HALE questionnaire in hemodialysis patients. The study included 120 hemodialysis patients. The HALE questionnaire was administered in two periods. In the first period, the participants completed the questionnaire themselves, and in the second period, the patients were asked to read and return the completed questionnaires. The validity and reliability of the Persian version of the HALE questionnaire were evaluated. This questionnaire has a high degree of internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha = 0.99). The corrected item-total correlations range from 0.29 to 0.77, which is acceptable. The item-discriminant validity was assessed through differential item functioning. The overall mean of the scale was 22.15 ± 7.61, and the mean of the HALE index was 26.61 ± 10.59. The findings of this study indicated that the Persian version of the HALE questionnaire is a reliable and valid tool for measurement of the health-related quality of life of hemodialysis patients in the Iranian context.Q:
